Packhouse

The packhouse is managed by a reasonably young but able team of previously disadvantaged individuals (PDI) who are mentored and coached by the packhouse manager. They have attended short course training sessions in management and leaderships skills training by accredited outside training institutions. All this will ensure that they should become fully competent in running the whole packhouse on their own within the next year or so.

This mentoring/coaching and training has been ongoing for the last four years. During this period they have shown themselves to be willing to learn under sometimes very trying and stressful circumstances. They are great!

The packhouse management team consists of:
  • Packhouse Manager – Brian Green (mentor and coach)
  • Production Manager (PDI) – Jacob Mofokeng (see previous photos)
  • Dispatch Manager (PDI) – Ntaeleng Leanya (see previous photos)
  • Quality Assurance Manager (PDI) – Tshoaro Macholo (see previous photos)
  • Preparations Manager (PDI) – Magdeline Kgerebane (see previous photos)
  • Packaging Material Store Manager (PDI) – Mabatho Thulo (see photo below)

Furthermore the packhouse staff consists of supervisors, production, support and maintenance people, who are a well-oiled, trained and competent team who ensure a continuous flow of products through the packhouse to meet the demanding needs of our very sophisticated export customers.

Yukon Farms has its own refrigerated truck and trailer that transports the packed and cooled products to the airport for onward flight to Europe and the Far East.

Production Fields

The field teams consist of the agronomics team who do the ground preparation, planting, fertilization, pesticide application and irrigation and the harvesting team who ensures that the products are harvested from the correct field in the right quantities and at the right time.

These teams are managed overall by the Managing Director and their management teams consist of: (see previous photos)
  • Agronomics Manager (PDI) – Pux Molotsoane
  • Harvesting Manager (PDI) – Kleinbooi Totolo
  • Irrigation Manager (PDI) – Thabo Maduke
  • Assistant Harvest Manager (PDI) – Mpho Maja
Furthermore they have various supervisors and tractor and implement operators that ensure that the plantings, fertilization, pesticide application and irrigation are done timeously to ensure that we can supply our customers with year round excellent products and service. There is also a team of tractor drivers whose job it is to transport the harvested product from the field to the packhouse.

We also have a fully equipped workshop on site to ensure that all maintenance and breakages are expertly and quickly seen to. The workshop staff consists of two technicians, a fitter and two assistants.
